ROBSON LAIDLER 1920 - 2020

we’ll be donning our posh frocks and dicky bows this year as Robson Laidler celebrates its 100th anniversary from 1st April 2020!

It’s certainly an iconic year to be marking 100 years in business. With the celebration of 100 years of women’s right to vote in the US, the launch of the first roller coaster in the UK and it’s been 100 years since Oxford University allowed women to receive degrees.

In celebrating this milestone, Robson Laidler are in good company – Haribo, with its iconic gummy bears, on trend sports brand Umbro and Australian airline Quantas all founded in 1920.

Since 1920 our roots have remained grounded in the North East. A team of 90 across our Jesmond and Durham offices, we’ve built a stellar reputation for ‘knowing our stuff’, demonstrated in the knowledge of our experienced, passionate team, coupled with the highest level of trust and an unsurpassed commitment to our clients’ success.

Throughout the past 100 years we’ve smashed some major tech breakthroughs, contributed to the success of thousands of businesses, introduced new service lines, made over 130,000 global impacts, won several awards and raised a mass amount for charity. (More than £100,000 within 3-years of our 100th anniversary target to be exact!)

We believe change creates opportunity. In recent years our firm has gone through the biggest revolution our industry has seen, with the introduction of Making Tax Digital, cloud accounting software and real-time forecasting, which we have introduced to our clients, changing their lives for the better.

Our four values are reflected in our recruitment policy: a guide to the culture we have achieved:  1. Create Real Connections, 2. Leave a Positive Impact, 3. Seek Greatness Every Day 4. Encourage Curiosity and Change.

By living these values, over the years we have helped business achieve optimal success, families prosper, and not for profit organisations fulfil their mission.

In 2020 and beyond we pledge to continue providing the quality of service our clients expect and grow our business in a way that makes us proud.

We look forward to engaging with many more individuals and businesses in the next 100 years!

Many of our clients have been with us throughout our 100-year inception, mostly generational family businesses that have continued to grow with Robson Laidler as their trusted accountants and business advisors.

A good number of these have many stories to tell us from years ago, and so this got us thinking about sharing some of these tales with you in our 100th anniversary year.

We’ve started this story wall where we hope to capture 100 different anecdotes, success stories, or nuggets of information that we’ve picked up over time.
