WORK EXPERIENCE

SEE IF ACCOUTANCY IS FOR YOU

We offer work experience placements to those studying for A-Levels and beyond at both our Newcastle and Chester le Street offices.

Placements are usually one week and students will spend time in each of our various  departments.

To ensure we are giving students the best opportunities for learning, we limit the number of placements to one placement per month between April – November (excluding August).

Some of our previous work experience students have gone on to join our apprenticeship programme.

As a Living Wage employer, we believe that everyone is entitled to a fair wage and for this reason, we do not offer internships.

We are unable to offer industrial placements for university students.

Business Support Assistant

We are looking for a motivated and positive individual to join our business support team.

The job specific requirements we would expect you to demonstrate are:

  • To provide admin support to all departments
  • Onboarding and disengaging clients
  • Preparing account packs and processing monthly invoices .
  • A professional telephone manner – ensuring all calls are re-directed to the appropriate person
  • Maintaining client records
  • To work well as part of a team and together with all other departments to ensure the office runs smoothly
  • Excellence organisational skills and time management
  • Strong IT skills. Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong multi-tasker
  • Flexible to suit the needs of the business
  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills

Head of Tax Advisory

We are looking for a Head of Tax Advisory who has the following attributes:

  • Goal-driven, focused on achieving and who is suited to working in a solution-oriented environment.
  • Comfortable with creating relationships and connecting regularly with others
  • Enthused by helping influence and drive continuous improvement across the organisation
  • Able to juggle priorities and deal with regular fastballs
  • Can implement procedures and processes
  • Capable of taking the initiative whilst also being able to flex when a situation requires more reflection
  • Motivated by giving and receiving recognition for achievements
  • Best working most productively around others and able to collaborate on team projects whilst being comfortable working independently when required

Job Overview

To lead and develop the company’s Tax Advisory offering. The scope of the role is a blend of advisory support on a wide range of tax issues – the type of work undertaken by the team includes predominantly OMB (Owner Managed Business) client work, with Corporate Tax & Private Client work. You will be responsible for:

  • Working on tax advisory projects
  • Managing the team of 3
  • Delivery of the service line’s Strategic Plan; and its financial performance
  • Contributing to business development

The vacancy job specific requirements we would expect you to demonstrate are:

A broad general tax knowledge is required – ideally CTA qualified with experience of high-end mixed tax planning. The type of projects you will be contributing to include corporate transactions, M&A, property transactions, reconstructions & demergers, share schemes and EIS/SEIS, succession and exit planning, efficient share structures, dividend planning, shareholder tax planning, estate planning, trusts, IHT, CGT, non-dom.
