We’re committed to making a difference. That’s not just a commitment to you and your business: We’re committing to changing lives in our day-to-day work and beyond.
We’re making an impact. Our relationship with you allows us to have a direct impact on your goals, and in turn, you support us in impacting the lives in the local community as well as lives across the world.
We’re recognised as an accredited B Corporation, and we’re proud to be part of a growing community aiming to pursue purpose as well as profit.
Being a B Corporation
In 2021 we became an accredited B Corp. This accreditation recognises our accomplishments in meeting rigorous social and environmental standards, which represent our commitment to goals outside of profit and having a positive impact on our people, clients and the environment.
We’re at the beginning of our B Corp journey, and although we’ve been recognised as a market leader, we’ll continue to look for more ways to support our people, help others, and help preserve our world.
We are proud to donate 5% of our profits each year to our own Community Fund for charitable causes across the North East.
The Fund, in partnership with Point North, is open to a huge network of community causes that fight poverty and enrich lives.
Our grants will go to those organisations that align with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals – No Poverty (SDG#1), Zero Hunger (SDG#2), Good Health & Well-Being (SDG#3), Quality Education (SDG#4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG#8), Reduced Inequalities (SDG#10), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG#11) and Climate Action (SDG#13).
Point North identifies good community causes across the region, which Robson Laidler then considers for funding. This is then match funded by Point North, who administers the grants.

ALLOWING US TO IMPACT THE WORLD
Since we were founded, our mission statement has always been “Helping to improve the lives of our clients, our people, and our communities.” But we wanted our support to reach even further.
So, we’ve partnered with Buy1Give1 to do exactly that and have a positive impact on lives across the world. Here we believe that every business has the power to change lives by integrating giving into its everyday business activities. Doing this together with you is a simple but powerful example of putting that belief into action.
By partnering with us, you’re also making a contribution to a plethora of projects, in line with the UN’s sustainable development goals including access to clean water, medical support, education and nourishing meals.
We’re committed to sustainable development, whether that’s by recycling, switching off the lights, cycling to work, the introduction of our new EV car scheme or getting out of the office on litter picking walks.
We have committed to be net zero by 2030 and as such we have plans to limit, measure, offset and reduce our carbon footprint. We are working to increase our wastepaper recycling and offset our offices’ current monthly carbon footprint by;
planting 72 trees.
rescuing 8kg of food, and
providing 2 months of access to a solar lamp to families in need
CHARITY WORK
INTERACTION WITH OUR COMMUNITIES
We are proud ambassadors for our wonderful region and giving back to the North East, through economic impact, community engagement and giving.
We will continue to evolve our local community giving from our £180k contribution over the last 5 years to launching our own Community Foundation – coming soon!
We also give all of our staff a paid day off each year to volunteer towards a cause they are passionate about.
IMPACTING BUSINESSES
STARTING A NEW BUSINESS CAN BE TOUGH
We impact businesses by helping with what’s important to you. When your journey is derailed, we support you and plan the right scenario to get you back on track.
BARRIER GROUP
PROVIDING THEIR CONNECTIONS WITH CONFIDENCE
Working in the off-shore gas industry, Barrier came under some financial difficulty in 1995. They came to us for help, and we worked with them to give their creditors and authorities confidence to continue working together.
Since then, Barrier have gone on to develop their own products and expertise, which put them in a position to claim for R&D tax credits. We helped advise and support them through this application, which has led them to being ahead of their market in so many ways!
Paul Miller came to us when his solicitor firm was going through some dramatic changes. They were transitioning from a traditional partnership to an LLP, with one partner retiring and another one coming onboard.
In order to make the transitions smooth for them, we sat down and created a clear and planned road map, as well as provided support on a personal and corporate level. This has Paul shape his business with no stone left unturned.
